Travel Skin Care Tips

When you run a business, raise a family that includes one “novaturient” husband, a handful of teenagers with wanderlust tendencies, young, adventure-seeking children, and a baby who goes along for the ride, you pretty much end up with short bursts of getaway trips that take you either to a rustic campsite requiring that you bring your own water, or a fancy hotel hosting an unforgettable business  trip… and everything in between. I’ll share 4 skin care tips for your next trip.

Both trip types require that you bring your skin care in a box.

Because temperatures have been HOT lately, I pack lotion, shampoo, and soap in SOLID FORM so that it wouldn’t soften/melt in the heat.

It also makes it easy to get past TSA guidelines when you fly.
Scroll down to see what I used, but first, some travel tips related to skin care:

  1. Plan ahead with water: If I didn’t have my water bottle and a large jug of ice water in our vehicle, I would likely not keep up with my water intake, especially because other city water is never as good as the water we have at our house. I even landed in the ER one summer because I didn’t realize that the strange symptoms my body was experiencing was actually dehydration. As for your skin, according to Dermatologist Rachel Nazarian, hydrated skin looks plumper and minimizes the signs of aging.
  2. Take care of your feet before you go! With the hustle and bustle of packing and planning our trip, my feet had been neglected. They were cracked and starting to split the day before our trip, and wearing sandals only aggravated the pain even more. My husband lathered on some Beesilk the night before we left and by morning, my feet were split-free and smooth.
  3. In case you burn… Naturally, you should prepare ahead of time by covering yourself with a hat, light clothing or sunscreen if necessary, but if, like me, you stayed out in the sun too long without protection, do what I once did: 1.) snip off a piece of your friend’s aloe vera plant and squeeze the gel onto your sunburn, or 2.) use your Simply Shea Facial Emollient and apply to any burn areas. My skin turned from red to a nice tan in less than 24 hours. I also like to keep KuKui oil on hand for minor burns.
  4. Go covert with your skin care: pack a lotion bar, soap, shampoo bar, and lip balm to cover the basics rather than liquid-based skin care. This is especially appreciated by those who travel by plane and need any available space in their TSA-allotted quart size bag of liquid based products.

Introducing:

Guest size products in a small cardboard box make this the easy travel kit that won’t take up valuable skin care product space for your airline carry-on needs (TSA only allows 1 quart size bag of liquids, creams, aerosols and paste).
